The Audi e-tron GT is a full-size premium all-wheel drive electric sedan (aka "E-segment" by European standards), which harmoniously "coexists" with a spectacular design and progressive technical and technological "filling", flavored with everyday practicality. The electric car is focused primarily on wealthy city dwellers who want to get not just a fast, comfortable and safe, but also an "environmentally friendly" car ...

The world premiere of the Audi e-tron GT took place on February 9, 2021 during a special online event, but for the first time the public saw an electric four-door (albeit as a concept car) back in November 2018 at the stands of the Los Angeles International Auto Show - without exaggeration, then she became the main star of the exhibition.

The company itself calls the exit of the electric sedan only the beginning of a new era in the history of Audi, but in fact, the e-tron GT is just a "disguised" Porsche Taycan (both models are based on the same platform and have similar units and assemblies), but a little more slow and not that expensive.

The exterior of the Audi e-tron GT is made in the corporate style of the German brand, but at the same time it has a certain uniqueness, thanks to which the four-door can boast an elegant, moderately aggressive, "thoroughbred" and expressive appearance. The full face of the electric sedan demonstrates the predatory squint of LED optics, a “muffled” hexagon of the radiator grille and a bumped bumper, and its stern instantly catches the eye due to spectacular lights connected by a functional crossbar and a powerful bumper.

From the side, the car is not perceived as a sedan in any way because of the fast-paced silhouette in the fastback style with a long hood, sloping roof and a short "branch" of the trunk, but this is exactly a sedan, the solidity of which is added by expressive "splashes" on the sidewalls, muscular "hips" impressive arches that can accommodate wheels up to 21 inches.

Remarkably, the e-tron GT was the first Audi electric car to receive a "charged" RS-modification - though visually it does not differ much from the standard version, and it can only be recognized by the corresponding nameplates and 21-inch "rollers".

In length, the premium electric sedan reaches 4989 mm, of which the distance between the wheel arches extends by 2900 mm, and its width and height are 1964 mm and 1414 mm, respectively. The ground clearance of the four-door is 144 mm, but due to the optional air suspension (this is standard equipment for the RS version) it can vary in the range of 42 mm.

Interior

The interior of the Audi e-tron GT is drawn according to the proprietary patterns of the German automaker, which makes it look attractive, modern and presentable. The driver's workplace is complete with fully digital "instrumentation" with a 12.3-inch display and a three-spoke steering wheel with a "puffy" rim cut off at the bottom. The sleek center console flaunts a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and a traditional air conditioning unit with physical buttons.

As befits a premium car, the inside of the electric car boasts impeccable ergonomics, extremely expensive finishing materials and high build quality.

As for the RS modification, its features are a sports steering wheel, seats with a developed side profile and a more aggressive color scheme.

The interior of the Audi e-tron GT is strictly four-seater: the rear sofa, although it has three headrests, but its pillow is clearly molded for two passengers, and that the third will be superfluous here is also hinted at by the strongly protruding floor tunnel. Front riders rely on sports chairs with pronounced lateral support, integrated headrests, a large number of electrical adjustments and other "benefits of civilization."

Under the small trunk lid of the electric car, there is quite a good compartment with a volume of 405 liters (although this figure is "compressed" to 366 liters when the optional Bang & Olufsen audio system is installed). The car has another cargo compartment in the front, but it is very modest - only 85 liters.

Specifications

There are two versions to choose from for the Audi e-tron GT, both of which are all-wheel drive:

  • The base electric car is equipped with two electric motors (one on each axle), but if the front one generates 238 horsepower, then the rear one (equipped with a two-stage gearbox) - already 435 hp. It is noteworthy, but these figures are not summarized, and the total power of such a machine is 476 hp. and 630 Nm of torque, but for 2.5 seconds these figures can be increased to 530 hp. and 640 Nm.
  • The "top" RS version is armed with a similar front electric motor, but the rear one already produces 456 hp, as a result of which the total potential of the four-door reaches 598 hp. and 830 Nm of peak thrust (for a short time, the output is capable of reaching 646 hp).

Both versions of the electric sedan are supplied with traction lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 93 kW / h (85 kW / h of them are used efficiently), which provides a solid "range": a standard model can cover up to 487 km on a single charge, and a "charged" one - up to 472 km.

It is worth noting that the car relies on an 800-volt power supply system, which provides fast replenishment of electricity: for example, from a 270 kW DC station in just five minutes, the batteries are able to take charge to overcome 100 km.

Dynamics and speed

From zero to the first "hundred" Audi e-tron GT accelerates after 4.1 seconds, and its top speed is 245 km / h, while the RS-modification, these figures are 3.3 seconds and 250 km / h, respectively.

Design features

The electric sedan is based on the J1 platform, which was developed specifically for electric vehicles in conjunction with Porsche. The four-door boasts the widest use of high-strength grades of steel and aluminum in the body structure, and most of the external elements are made of "winged metal".

As standard, the car is equipped with a self-locking rear differential and fully independent suspensions with adaptive electronically controlled shock absorbers: in the front - a two-lever, in the back - a multi-link. By the way, an electronically controlled rear differential and air suspension with three-chamber cylinders are provided as an option for an electric vehicle (this is standard equipment for the RS version).

By default, the Audi e-tron GT has in its arsenal steering with an active electric power amplifier, and if desired, it can be equipped with a fully-controlled chassis (again, the "base" for the RS version). All four wheels of the electric sedan house ventilated disc brakes, which give way for a surcharge to a carbon-ceramic braking system.

Options and prices

In the foreseeable future, the Audi e-tron GT should appear on the Russian market, but in Germany it is already on sale at a price of 99,800 euros (≈8.9 million rubles) for the standard version, while the RS modification is not cheaper there 138 200 euros (≈12.3 million rubles).

Already in the "base" the electric sedan has: front and side airbags, fully LED optics, 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, dual-zone climate control, a virtual instrument cluster, a media center with a 10.1-inch screen, leather interior trim, electric drive and heating front seats, adaptive cruise control and more.

In addition, the widest list of options is announced for the four-door: matrix LED headlights and laser-phosphor high beam, automatic parking system, an advanced Bang & Olufsen audio system, wheels measuring 20 or 21 inches, a head-up display and other bells and whistles.
