The Toyota Venza is a mid-size, four-wheel-drive, five-door SUV that is not inherently a stand-alone model, but just a renamed fourth-generation Harrier crossover for the US market (which was unveiled in Japan in April 2020). It boasts an attractive design and modern interior, and is powered by a hybrid drive ...

The official premiere of the second generation Toyota Venza took place on May 18, 2020 during an online presentation, and the five-door returned to the market after a three-year absence, and even in a new format - as a mid-size crossover (before it was more of a cross-station wagon than a full-fledged SUV).

Outside, the second generation Venza boasts an attractive, modern and sophisticated design - a deliberately pronounced "front" part with frowned headlights and an impressive bumper, a "light" silhouette with a long hood, complex plastic sidewalls, a smoothly falling roofline and large strokes of wheel arches, lean stern with "through" lights across the entire width, a multifaceted trunk lid and a raised bumper.

In terms of its dimensions, the "second" Toyota Venza fits into the parameters of the mid-size segment: the crossover is 4740 mm long, 1855 mm wide, and 1675 mm high. The center distance of the vehicle extends to 2690 mm, and its ground clearance is 195 mm.

Interior

Inside, the SUV meets its inhabitants with a beautiful, solid and moderately solid design, made in full accordance with modern fashion patterns - a weighty multi-steering wheel with a three-spoke rim, an "elegant" instrument cluster with several dial dials and a color display with a diagonal of 4.2 or 7 inches, stylish center console with a protruding screen (its size is 8 or 12.3 inches) of the media center and a fully touch panel of the air conditioner.

Salon "Venza" of the second incarnation has a five-seater layout: in front there are ergonomic chairs with a well-developed side profile, "integrated" headrests, wide ranges of adjustments and heating (and, as an option, also with ventilation), and in the back there is a comfortable sofa with a folding armrest in the center.

In the arsenal of the crossover - the trunk is correct in shape. The second row of seats folds in two unequal parts into a completely even "rookery", due to which the capacity of the cargo compartment increases to 1028 liters (according to the American EPA method). In the niche under the raised floor there is a small-sized spare wheel and the necessary tools.

Specifications

The second generation Toyota Venza is driven by a hybrid power plant with a total capacity of 222 horsepower: the front wheels are driven by a 2.5-year four-cylinder gasoline "aspirated" engine in conjunction with an electric motor and an electromechanical variator, and the rear wheels are powered by a separate electric motor.

The electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion traction battery installed under the rear seat, which, by the way, cannot be charged from the mains.

On top of that, the SUV flaunts the Electronic On-Demand AWD system, flexibly redistributing the torque between the axles in a ratio from 100: 0 to 20:80, as well as three modes of operation of the hybrid installation - Normal, Eco and Sport (not counting the fact that at low speeds and short distances, the car can drive on one electric traction).

Design features

The second "release" of Toyota Venza is built on a modular "bogie" GA-K with a monocoque body, the power structure of which is largely composed of high-strength grades of steel. "In a circle" the car is equipped with independent suspensions with passive shock absorbers and anti-roll bars: classic MacPherson struts are installed in front, and a multi-link system at the rear.

The car is equipped with a rack-and-pinion steering system with an integrated electric power steering, and all its wheels are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated on the front axle), complemented by various modern "assistants".

Options and prices

In the US, sales of the fourth-generation Toyota Venza will begin in summer 2020, but prices have not yet been announced.

In the basic configuration, the crossover boasts: front and side airbags, a media center with an 8-inch screen, dual-zone "climate", an audio system with six speakers, adaptive cruise, LED headlights and lanterns, blind spot monitoring, an automatic braking system, hold technology in the strip, heated front seats and other modern options.
