Ford Focus Active is a front-wheel-drive "raised" hatchback of a compact category, which is addressed primarily to people who are accustomed to following modern trends and leading an active lifestyle ... Almost the entire "all-terrain essence" of a car is a protective body kit around the perimeter of the body and increased ground clearance ...

The “pseudo-crossover” version, which first appeared in the Focuses family, was presented to a wide audience on April 10, 2018, during a special event in Germany.

Compared to the basic "brother", the five-door not only received a number of stylistic improvements, but also "armed" with its own settings of shock absorbers and springs.

Outside, confusing the Ford Focus Active against the background of a standard hatchback is not allowed by the protective "ammunition" around the perimeter of the body made of unpainted plastic, imitation of steel protection in the lower part of the bumpers, roof rails, nameplates with the name of the version and rims of the original design.

The overall dimensions of the "off-road vehicle" have not yet been disclosed, but it is known that it has a ground clearance increased by 30 mm in comparison with the base "brother".

Inside the Ford Focus Active there is a standard fourth-generation hatchback: stylish and attractive design, competent arrangement of all controls and a high-quality level of performance.

Here is the same five-seat layout and a luggage compartment with a maximum volume of 1354 liters.

Under the hood of the "all-terrain Focus" are the same motors as in the standard model:

  • Gasoline modifications are equipped with in-line three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost turbo engines with a volume of 1.0-1.5 liters with a direct injection system and variable valve timing, which have 85-182 horsepower and 170-240 Nm of torque in their arsenal.
  • Diesel versions are powered by 1.5- and 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged units, battery-powered Common Rai and 8 or 16 valves producing 95-150 hp. and 300-370 Nm of torque capacity.

By default, all installations are equipped with a six-speed “mechanics” and a front-wheel drive transmission, and for some of them an 8-speed “automatic” with a torque converter and a manual gear change mode using paddle shifters is offered.

Structurally, Ford Focus Active repeats the base hatch - it is based on the global C2 platform with a transversely oriented motor, electric power steering and disc brakes on each of the wheels (ventilated on the front axle).

At the front, the car is equipped with an independent MacPherson-type suspension, and at the rear - with a semi-independent torsion beam or a multi-link system (unlike the conventional model, it has different settings for shock absorbers and springs). For a surcharge, an adaptive chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers is provided for the five-door.

In the countries of the Old World, sales of the Ford Focus Active will begin closer to the summer of 2018, after which it will reach other markets (whether an SUV will appear in Russia is not yet reported).

The list of basic and additional equipment for the "pseudo-crossover" version of the hatchback, most likely, will not differ from that of the standard "brother".
