The full-size Dodge Ram 1500 pickup of the next generation, the fourth in a row, celebrated its official premiere in January 2008 at the Detroit International Auto Show. And in 2009, Ram was spun off into a separate Ram Trucks brand. At the 2012 New York bridegrooms, an updated version of the American "truck" was presented to the public, which, in addition to improvements to the exterior and interior, received an upgraded power unit, a new gearbox and an expanded list of equipment.

The Ram 1500 looks cool and defiant, and it is simply impossible to confuse it with other models. A powerful radiator grille, stylish headlights with LED "eyeliners" of running lights, a muscular profile with large strokes of wheel arches, turning into a characteristic stern with compact lanterns and two "trunks" of the exhaust system - the look of the pickup is modern, presentable and brutal.

The American "truck" is available in three versions - with a double, one-and-a-half or single cab.

The length of the car varies from 5308 to 5817 mm, the height - from 1894 to 1923 mm, but the width is unchanged in each case and is 2017 mm.
Depending on the version, the front wheels are spaced from the rear by a distance of 3061 to 3570 mm.

The Ram 1500's interior is no less brutal - a weighty multifunctional steering wheel with a four-spoke design, an informative instrument cluster with analog dials and a 3.5-inch TFT display and a massive front panel with a monumental console in the center, decorated with a 7-inch multimedia center screen and control units " climate ”with“ music ”. True, in the basic configurations, the design is much simpler.

The interior of the American "truck" is made mainly of high-quality materials - high-quality plastics, "metal" inserts, pleasant fabric and genuine leather in "top" trim levels.

The front seats of the full-size pickup truck are equipped with "flat" seats with a poorly developed profile and wide range of settings, and are optionally complemented by ventilation and electric adjustments.
The second row of seats in the version with a double cab is represented by a full-fledged three-seater sofa (albeit with a short cushion in the center), offering comfortable seating even for adult passengers.

The main advantage of the fourth generation Ram 1500 is its solid cargo capacity. Depending on the type of cab, the length of the platform is extended by 1712-2496 mm, its depth is 508-513 mm, but the width between the wheel arches is 1295 mm for all versions. The useful volume of the cargo compartment varies from 1424 to 2016 liters.
On board, the pickup is capable of taking luggage weighing up to 875 kg, while at the same time towing a trailer weighing up to 4740 kg.

Specifications. For the fourth "release" of the Ram 1500, there are three petrol and one diesel engines to choose from, paired with a 6- or 8-band automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

  • The base version of the car is equipped with a 3.6-liter V-shaped six-cylinder gasoline unit equipped with multi-point fuel injection and a 24-valve DOHC timing belt, which generates 305 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 365 Nm of torque at 4175 rpm.
    Such a "herd" under the hood requires good nutrition - on average, a pickup consumes 11.6 liters of fuel for every "hundred" of the way in the combined cycle.
  • An intermediate version is a 4.7-liter gasoline "eight" with V-shaped cylinders, distributed fuel injection and a 16-valve SOHS-type timing belt, peak producing 310 "horses" at 5650 rpm and 448 Nm of torque, which is realized at 3950 rpm / minute.
    The passport fuel consumption of this "truck" is no more than 13 liters in the combined cycle.
  • The engine compartment of the "top" cars is occupied by a petrol "monster" V8 HEMI with a distributed fuel supply, a 16-valve timing chain with a chain drive, a VVT system and a "Start / Stop" function. With a working volume of 5.7 liters, its maximum output reaches 395 "mares" at 5600 rpm and 554 Nm of torque at 3950 rpm.
    In combined conditions, the Ram 1500 uses about 14.3 liters of fuel mixture for every 100 km.
  • Equipped with a full-size pickup and a diesel power plant is a 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine with 240 horsepower (at 3600 rpm), developing 569 Nm of peak thrust at 2000 rpm.
    With such a "heart", the car is able to do with only 7.9 liters of "diesel" in a mixed mode of movement (at least, the manufacturer says so).

At the heart of the design of the Ram 1500 is a powerful ladder frame on which a steel cab and body are perched. At the front, the American "truck" uses an independent scheme with upper and lower A-arms and coil springs, at the rear - a lever-spring architecture with twin-tube shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar. An optional air suspension with five operating modes is installed on it, which allows you to adjust the ground clearance in the range from 170 to 270 mm.
The rack and pinion steering on the pickup is based on a modern variable electric power amplifier.
The "1500" uses a powerful braking system with 2-piston front and 1-piston rear mechanisms, "hugging" ventilated discs with a diameter of 336 and 352 mm, respectively, as well as an ABS system.

Prices. On the territory of Russia, the Ram 1500 of the fourth generation can be purchased at a price of ~ 53,500 US dollars (~ 3,450,000 rubles at the end of 2015), and the most sophisticated version will cost a minimum of 78,000 dollars (~ 5,030,000 rubles).
The basic pickup includes front and side airbags, ABS, ESP, air conditioning, power windows, heated side mirrors, a standard audio system and 17-inch wheel disks, "shod" in tires with a size of 265/70 R17.
The privileges of the "top-end" version are a two-zone "climate", heating, ventilation and electric drive of the front seats, leather interior trim, a multimedia installation with a color screen, "rollers" 20 inches and other "chips".
