At the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, the luxury division of Japanese Nissan, Infiniti, unveiled the second generation of the successful Infiniti FX crossover (S 51). The predecessor - the first generation of Infiniti FX since 2003, has consistently found its fans on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In Russia, motorists also appreciated the first generation Infiniti FX sports crossover.

In 2012, the second generation Infiniti FX underwent a slight facelift and since April dealers have been taking orders for the updated Infiniti FX. Consider the super-popular ... luxury ... and sporty crossover in detail.

Fans of Infiniti FX had no complaints and comments about the appearance of the sports crossover, and the designers made only slight adjustments to the exterior, giving the updated 2nd generation Infiniti FX a more modern and catchy look.

The new 2012 Infiniti FX looks at the world with small, uncharacteristic for a large SUV, headlights (bixenon) of a complex rounded-rectangular shape (look like an alien's eyes). The front optics sit on the sidewalls of the second-generation Infiniti FX manly front fenders. A huge bumper with an integrated false radiator grille in the shape of a trapezoid with turned corners (richly chrome-plated) covers the entire front of the American-Japanese SUV and manages to place on itself a lower air intake, plastic protection along the lower edge and beautiful round foglights located in teardrop-shaped slots with chrome slots edging. The bonnet rises in waves at the sides and flows into the sculpted arches of the wheel arches. The 2012 Infiniti FX front fenders have ventilation slots (with a metal finish) to dissipate heat from heated brake discs.

The profile of the second generation Infiniti FX echoes its predecessor, but the silhouette of the body has taken on an even more impetuous look. In a sports car, the front pillar of the coupe-shaped roof is heavily overwhelmed back. The long bonnet and massive front arches blend harmoniously through the rounded door sides into the plump rear end of the 2012 Infiniti FX. The high sill line gives passengers a sense of security, but is detrimental to the driver's view.

The rear of the new FX has a short overhang and a large bumper protected by a serious plastic guard made of unpainted plastic. The luggage compartment door is like a sports coupe, small with a small glass area. The roof flows down through the rounded rear pillars to the stern, giving the body of the second generation InfIniti FX crossover coupe. Not superfluous is a spoiler with an additional brake light above the rear window, the main taillights are of a fancy shape with LED lamps. The bumper houses a serious-caliber exhaust pipe with chrome tailpipes. Unpainted plastic covers all the body elements along the bottom, including the edges of the huge circular arches that can take wheels up to 265 / 45R21 into their bowels.

External dimensions of the second generation Infiniti FX 2012 have increased in comparison with the first generation Infiniti FX and are: length - 4865 mm, width - 1925 mm, height - 1650 mm, base - 2885 mm. But the clearance - decreased to 184 mm.

The updated second-generation Infiniti FX welcomes its five passengers with a cozy and comfortable cabin with premium finishing materials (leather, rosewood or maple wood, textured plastics) and rich equipment. Everything that is inside the 2012 Infiniti FX - in order and in detail.
The front dashboard is divided into the driver's and passenger's area by the center console, which turns into a powerful transmission tunnel. At the top of the console there is a 7-inch color display (an 8-inch option with navigation in Russia and a 10 GB disk), under it, on a horizontal ledge, an Infiniti controller, responsible for setting and displaying information on the monitor (music, climate control, timeliness of maintenance). Just below the analog Infiniti clock and a two-channel Hi-Fi audio system 08IT Bose 2, .0 (CD MP3, IPOD, USB, Bluetooth, 10 speakers and a 2GB hard drive), climate control. On the central tunnel, richly decorated with wood, there is an automatic control lever. The three-spoke leather-braided steering wheel has a sporty, small diameter that fits nicely in the hands (telescopic power steering column adjustment), optional gear shift paddles. The dashboard with optitron illumination is informative and readable in any light, the trip computer screen is located between the two radii of the devices. Front row seats with excellent profile, electrically adjustable (8 directions), heating, ventilation. As an option, sports seats are offered, adding to the standard settings manual adjustment in the area of u200b u200bthe shoulders and hips, a cushion roller. There is a memory of two positions of settings for seats, steering wheel and mirrors. The driver and front passenger are surrounded by almost royal comfort.
We pass to the second row. Behind the seats, only two passengers will be warmly welcomed, the common seat is molded for two seats, the high tunnel will not allow the third rider to get comfortable. The second row has its own ventilation and heating deflectors. As an option, 7-inch TFT color screens with DVD-player installed in the headrests of the front row seats.
The luggage compartment of the updated 2nd generation Infiniti FX in the five-seater version is 376 liters when loaded up to the decorative curtain. By folding the second row, you can significantly increase the volume.

Infiniti FX 2012 model year is sold in Russia in several trim levels: Elegance, Sport, Premium and Hi-tech. But even the “starting” Infiniti FX37 Elegance (2012) is very, very richly equipped: dual-zone climate control, full power accessories, leather interior, keyless entry, power door locks, rear view camera, Bose 2.0 music (auto volume control depending on travel speed) and much more. In the more expensive 2012 Infiniti FX trim levels, respectively, more expensive multimedia systems, sports seats and brakes, an all-round visibility system, etc., are installed. The list of standard and optional equipment for the updated second generation Infiniti FX crossover is very rich and varied.

Specifications. For the second generation Infiniti FX, since the start of sales in 2009, two engines were offered: VQ35HR 3.5 L V6 (307 hp) for Infiniti FX35 and VVEL (VK50VE) 5.0 L V8 (400 hp) for Infiniti FX50, aggregated with a new 7-speed automatic.
In 2010, the 3.5 liter Infiniti FX35 engine gave way to the more powerful VVEL (VQ37VHR) 3.7 L V6 (333 hp) for the Infiniti FX37 model. The Infiniti FX50 engine remains the same. But a turbo diesel (V9X Engine) 3.0 L V6 (238 hp) was added to the lineup. These are the motors that are installed on the restyled Infiniti FX37, FX50 and diesel Infiniti FX30d (respectively), and they are assisted by a 7-automatic transmission with a manual shift function and an ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split).
A number of electronic assistants are standard on the new FX: Electromechanical Power Steering, ABS, EBD, BA (Emergency Braking Assistant), VDC (Dynamic Stability), TCS (Traction Control). As an option, a system is available that changes the stiffness of the shock absorbers (CDC), the adaptive cruise control system (Forward collision warning) will not allow you to collide with an obstacle, IBA (Intelligent Brake assist) intelligent braking system (FX37 and FX30d). The expensive FX50 has all this as standard, but it also boasts a rear multi-link steering system with RAS (Rear Active Steer), as on the sports sedans Infiniti G, Infiniti M and the Infiniti G coupe.

Test Drive. Diesel Infiniti FX 30d will provide acceleration to 100 km / h in 8.3 seconds, top speed is 212 km / h, average fuel consumption is 9 liters. The FX 30d crossover rides well, suspension performance with a sporty touch. An excellent choice for the pragmatic driver.
Infiniti FX 37 accelerates to 100 km / h in an impressive 6.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of 233 km / h, the average consumption is 12-12.5 liters for very calm drivers (actually 15-18 liters, which is also not bad for a car weight over 2000 kg). On Infiniti FX37 you can really “get away from reality” and get a powerful adrenaline rush. A crossover with a V6 engine (333 hp) accelerates easily and naturally, electronics intervenes in extreme cases and allows you to play around, but do not forget about the dimensions and weight of the car.
And here he comes - the longed-for dream of many auto fans - just a crazy sports crossover with the makings and equipment of a sports car - the Infiniti FX50. A huge 5.0 L V8 (400 hp) fires this Japanese SUV in 5.8 seconds to 100 km / h, acceleration dynamics fades away only closer to reaching the maximum speed of 250 km / h. The manufacturer's declared average fuel consumption of 13.1 liters per 100 kilometers seems unattainable. Gasoline consumption in real conditions is 20-30 liters. The Infiniti FX 50 constantly provokes its owner to drive aggressively (the favorite of the traffic police). The restyled second-generation Infiniti FX 50 features phenomenal handling, with RAS and CDC systems, the crossover ironing the roads as if glued to it. Sometimes the thought arises that you really are behind the wheel of a “GT coupe”, but the high seating position and the huge bonnet remind: I'm driving an Infiniti FX50! - a crossover with charisma and sports car data.

Price. In Russia, the price of the Infiniti FX 30d starts from 2,590,000 rubles, the Infiniti FX 37 costs from 2,574,000 rubles, and the "hurricane" Infiniti FX 50 will cost at least 3,589,000 rubles.
