At the 2001 Detroit Auto Show in January, Cadillac unveiled the 2nd generation Escalade full-size SUV, which went on sale by 2002. The car was mass-produced until 2006, after which its life cycle stopped, and the third-generation model was put on the conveyor.

The Second Escalade was offered with a standard wheelbase, an extended version and a four-door pickup in the back.

Depending on the solution, the length of the car is 5052-5624 mm, the height is 1885-1921 mm, and the width is 2004-2018 mm. The wheelbase varies from 2946 to 3302 mm, and the ground clearance in all cases is 220 mm.

The second generation Cadillac Escalade was powered by two Vortec V8 engines.
The least productive is the 5.3-liter 288-horsepower unit, producing 440 Nm of peak thrust at 4000 rpm and equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
It is followed by a 6.0-liter engine with 349 "mares" and 515 Nm of torque.
In tandem, it relies on the same automatic machine, but the drive is fully connected, when, under normal conditions, the entire supply of traction is transmitted to the rear wheels.

Depending on the modification, the development of the first 100 km / h for a luxury SUV takes 8.6-9.5 seconds, and the "maximum" is 174 km / h. Average fuel consumption in combined mode is stated at around 14.7-15.7 liters in favor of a less powerful engine.

The Escalade II is based on the GMT820 platform and has the following design features: a spar frame on which the engine, suspension and transmission are mounted, a steel body, an independent running gear on torsion bars at the front and a dependent structure with a rigid axle and a system of levers at the rear. The brakes on the car are completely disc with ventilation and ABS.

The advantages of the "second" Cadillac Escalade are considered to be brutal appearance, efficient engines, a 7-seater salon with a large amount of space, confident behavior on the road, decent dynamic performance, a huge luggage compartment and the prestige of the model.
Cons - increased fuel consumption, cheap interior materials, expensive maintenance and not the most efficient braking system.
