The second generation of the subcompact hatchback SEAT Ibiza (index "6K"), developed by the Spanish company in cooperation with Volkswagen AG, entered the market in 1993, and was first shown to the public at a bride show in Barcelona.

At the same exhibition, but already in 1999, the premiere of a deeply updated car took place, which was separated by serious changes in the exterior, interior and technical "filling". In this form, the car was produced until 2002, after which it changed its generation again.

The second "release" of the SEAT Ibiza is the B-community hatchback according to European standards with a three- or five-door body. The "Spaniard" exhibits the following external dimensions: 3853 mm in length, of which 2443 mm is allocated for the distance between the axles, 1422 mm in height and 1640 mm in width. Depending on the version, the curb weight of the car ranges from 910 to 1060 kg.

For the "Ibiza" of the second generation, the widest range of gasoline and diesel engines was available, but all of them were combined only with the "mechanics" of five steps and the drive wheels of the front axle.

  • The gasoline part of the hatch combined atmospheric in-line "fours" with a volume of 1.0-1.6 liters with multi-point power supply and an 8-valve timing, producing 50-101 horsepower and 86-140 Nm of peak potential.
  • The diesel range included 1.9-liter atmospheric and turbocharged engines with a return of 64-110 "mares" and 124-235 Nm of torque.

The "second" SEAT Ibiza is based on the front-wheel drive chassis of the "Volkswagen Group A03" with a transversely located power unit and a supporting body. The suspension on the car is expressed by an independent architecture at the front and a semi-independent scheme at the rear - MacPherson struts and a twisting beam, respectively.
The hatchback has a rack and pinion steering system with a hydraulic booster. The brake complex is represented by disc front mechanisms, rear "drums" and ABS.

Among the advantages of the "Ibiza" of the second incarnation, the owners usually distinguish: excellent reliability, affordable service, good looks, comfortable interior, low fuel consumption, acceptable driving performance and good equipment.
Well, its disadvantages most often include: stiff suspension, cramped rear seats, modest ground clearance and a small trunk.
